Ralph Snart #3

RSA #3 is still on schedule - four pages are complete. Moving to a digital only book may have come at just the right time and looks to be the best thing that could've happened. See this link. Diamond going belly up would be super cool, and if you know some of the direct market history, a distinct possibility, even without all the lawsuits, but based merely on the "economic downturn". Major cluster. Hah!

It would also suck right now to be a newspaper cartoonist (hang in there, Jef!). With the internet, publishing daily newspapers hasn't made sense for the last ten years. They've only survived because they're an important channel for major retail chains to advertised through. BTW, those same retailers (the smart ones) are investing heavily in moving their ad dollars towards broadcast, direct mail and the internet because they see what's coming; newspapers are losing the good fight.

Hey, this could be the beginning of the golden age of digital comics. Or not.

UPDATE: All of the backstock of RSA books and comics at Diamond have sold through. After their being such asses about order minimums, I'll be declining any future reorders I get from those bastards. Why risk not getting paid if there's a possibility of them going belly up any day (besides they're asses). Sorry retailers, but you're caught in the middle. Readers of Snart can buy direct at my website.

Also, I gave up selling through Amazon long ago. If they get an order for one book, they immediately cut a PO for one book. Even with their policy of not paying for a book until it sells, they won't order extra copies, say five or ten books, so I'm not shipping one book at a time to them every other day. WHAT TOTAL ASSES! And if you've heard of their Book Surge program, it's a major ripoff.

Hey, distributors! Go piss on yourselves 'cause I don't need you!

For your sake, I hope it is the beginning of a golden age for digital comics. First mover advantage doesn't really apply; it's all about quality of content - which we know you have - but the fact you've been out there since, what, 2003 doing this off and on with Snart digital-only? That's excellent. Keep it up!

Actually, I did a Weird Melvin digital comic test back in 1994. Maybe it's time to do some new Big Weird stuff.

'Big Weird'? Is that Weird Melvin? Personally I wanna know -are there any Doctor Gorpon storylines kicking up in that cranium of yours that might see ink onto page treatment in the near future?

Print is dead. Long live Print!

Possibly. After I finish RSA #4, I'm going to contemplate my next move; whether to do RSA #5 or a Weird Melvin or Gorpon book(s). We'll just have to wait and see if I get inspired.

If you do a Weird Melvin Story, continue it where the last one left off--that would be totally badass! I always wondered what was gonna happen...
